Life of Brian, winter of us

Today I wish to alert you to a collection of quotes gathered by Brian at Bonnywood Manor as his own birthday present while showing you how we do winter over here.

First we had that memorable storm on the penultimate day of January. Such dire effects.

“Nothing is ever the same as they said it was.”
– Diane Arbus

Above is the first quote out of three as selected from Brian’s stash of quotes. He has the best ideas for celebrating his birthday. Some of them I posted on my blogs already but all are worthy of your attention. I promised him to reblog three that I had never heard before and speak to me most of all.

The next day I strolled under the mimosa tree that was so happily abloom last January and had a close look at this year’s progress:

“To gain your own voice, you have to forget about having it heard.”
– Allen Ginsberg

And finally, no mimosa yet but look! It’s coming.

“We are all here on earth to help others; what on earth the others
are here for I don’t know.” – W. H. Auden

Thank you for lovely thoughts, Brian, and to all of you for being on earth.

    1. Thanks, Charlotte. And I was so glad to find your Jeanette’s quote.

The last pink one? Or the yellow? Here is our mimosa last January in full bloom: https://manjameximoving.wordpress.com/2019/01/23/january-2018/

The pink one is still undecided, a biologist friend is trying to pin it down on Facebook. It’s a bush, my guess is a fruit of some sort. If anybody knows, please, be my guest. This one is always the first to bloom, every year.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing my little trove of quotes. I’m especially fond of the three you selected, and I really enjoyed the way you presented this post.
