Lens-Artists PC: Shadowlands

Here is one of those compilation posts I like doing so much, of shadows that I see if I look around, which I tend to do.

They say that the camera only teaches you how to look around without a camera, which becomes painfully clear whenever I don’t have it with me. So many things happen that now I only leave it at home when it’s raining, and I regret it even then.

Here are some shadow glimpses then. Each is not much on its own but each has a place in this company of shadows and all together they are a joy to behold. Welcome to my shadows!

  • Let’s start on our beach. The new pathway has been built.
  • Towards the station. I like the effect of this roof.
  • The gate out of place.
  • The gate in function.
  • This view always makes me happy. Might be because it means amore is coming home.
  • If I were a designer, I’d put these shadows on my dress.
  • The unit. I’ve realised something about Italy and its shadows.
  • In Italy you are never alone.
  • A turtle shadow.
  • The one that got away.
  • Shadow cat statues.
  • Do you see what I mean? Never alone. Pitigliano.
  • In Pitigliano with blogger friend Norman Frampton of Thursday Doors fame (not pictured here).
  • We proceeded to the San Galgano Abbey. This is the Rotonda above with the sword in stone.
  • In Italy the shadows play a major role. Caldana.
  • Just the local primary school and yet so thought through.
  • Playful leaves near the kindergarten.
  • More playful leaves, in Rome. Rome is the light queen.
  • But Piran in Slovenia is the light king. Maybe they should meet.
  • As for bestia, he’s my shadow hero and always will be.

      1. All are taken with an I-phone. The optics have improved considerably in the past few years. Zoom ad angle is still not great but I’m confident this will be fixed within five years. I also use Photoshop for framing, a it of cleaning, light adjustments. That’s all.
        I’d stopped taking photos in the late 90’s because of the bulk. My Asahi-Pentax, a wide angle, a zoom, 3-5 kilos easily?
        Now I carry my I-phone in my back pocket. My hands and eyes are free. I see something? I grab the phone. Take a few shots and that’s it. Limitations? Yes. Not good for portraits. Animals. Can’t play with light, shutter speed, etc. But for my type of photography it’s fine. 🙂
