Today’s poem is a bit self-explanatory. And tongue-in-cheek. And counter-revolutionary. And anarchic. Followed by a colourful hippie-gypsy-boho gallery. All of this is who I am.
Black and white
You are born into colours.
You exaggerate.
Stand out.
Combine incombinably.
Dare.
Growing up is toning down.
Towards sensible.
Towards sinister.
The great numbing.
The great dumb-down.
Whitening.
Black-out.
Murder.
Just like b&w photography.
Niki de Saint Phalle shows how it goes: from colour to death. Spotted in Rome. Remove the colours and there’s nothing to fight for. Via Appia Antica in Rome. Motovun in Croatia. Island Krk, Croatia. Porto Ercole. One of my favourite scenes. And another favourite: a garden I often envision owning. Next to Lake Burano. The Abbey of Sant’Antimo. Lake Burano and poppy outburst. Maremma sunset. By the Orbetello lagoon. Soon again. A Rome blossom. Porto Ercole colour scheme. Whereas this is the entrance of my parents’ home in Ljubljana. As spotted in Portorož, Slovenia. No matter the colour, the result is the same dried mess below. There is a lesson in there. Sister cooking up a storm. Swiss chard on our first and only snow exactly one year ago. This was six years ago: brand new bestia on the beach. Sovana flower selfie. I’ll let Niki finish too. From her Il giardino dei tarocchi near here.

Beautiful photos and words. I agree we tend to push out colour in favour of greys and blacks as we mature, although I personally fight against that. I do think Black and White photography has its place though!

Thank you, Leya. 🙂 For me photography is just continuation of life with different means. 😉 Therefore let it be in colour, I say. Mostly.

Gasp! So much gorgeousness! And a baby Bestia ❤ I love the pink blossoms in front of the yellow house. And all those blue skies, and the coloured hair.

Thank you, Crystal. As you can see, I’ve had a bit of fun with this post. 😀 Of course, there is a place for b&w photography, just maybe not over here so much.

Oh, this is so unfair, you know how much I love color! No, no way, I will not colors as opponent to black and white. For me it is all an addition, a great thing that can be in harmony with each other :))

Thanks, Marina. You’re right, of you course. There is time and place for everything. I had just a bit of exaggerated fun, as I tend to do. 😉

If having fun make it exaggerated. But always! Enjoy it :))

Hihih, thanks, Bojana. I’m too much of a hippie to be full-on anarchy. But sometimes this side wins over. 😉
