Day Eight: Happy birthday, bestia!

My friend here is six years old today, making our home beautiful since 2013 – which means that my stay in Italy will soon turn six too.

I have always loved the poem Good Bones from today’s prompt. I can see how they derived the following challenge from it but it deserved better. Yet, I’m a translator and such things as argot and professional slang are good to know. Let’s have a look:

Challenge 8: “Think about the argot of a particular job or profession, and see how you can incorporate it into a metaphor that governs or drives your poem.”

Every year on bestia’s birthday I post one photo for each month we have spent with our pack member and friend. Last year’s birthday post is here (and it includes the links to all his previous birthdays if you like puppy photos).

So I had known that whatever the challenge was today, I would have to incorporate bestia’s birthday into it. Unsurprisingly, K9 it is. If you don’t know what it means, say it out loud and think police K9 units.

K9

“Can I?” Nein,
you cannot.

“Cats nine, how many lives have I?”
Let’s not find out.

My best friend
is my generation:

six dog years
is 40 to 50 in human.

Comic for nine,
Clever for ninety-nine.

Kind, questioning,
curious, crazy.

Fonzie, bestia,
cane, ciccio.

“Can I eat it?”
Yes, you can.
But you may not.

But most of all, as you will see, he is very polite. Happy birthday, bestia, and let’s carry on just as we were.

    1. Ohh, Bojana, do you think it’s a she because of the nickname bestia or from appearance? It means beast in Italian for both genders. I have two bestias here and both are male. 😉 His name is Fonzie. On one photo he is peeing! 😀 Not a dog girl! In any case, greetings happily excepted. Cheers!

      1. She…I mean he looked female to me. Plus, that ‘a’ in the end.
Haha, missed that pee. Speaking of which, I had a male dog that never learned to pee ‘properly’ so there you go. It means nothing, and I mean nothing….unless I see it with my own eyes.

  1. Happy birthday, bestia Fonzie! He looks much more mature (i.e. better behaved) than my Chules, but Chules is only 36 in dog years. I like the idea of a year in photos. I bet you had plenty to choose from!

    1. Thank you, Maggie! Oh yes, I have many photos. I almost used two per month because so many great ones were left out. As for better behaved… hmmm, I think it’s a matter of photo choice and captions. 😀 When we’re angry with him, we don’t take his photos.

  2. Darn!!! Did it again. Typed my comment in “Search.” Here it is for a second time: Beastia and Frida would have made beautiful puppies together. Yes, his posing skills are amazing. Did you find Norm a few doors to photograph?

    1. Hehhe, thanks, Judy. This comment made me giggle first thing in the morning (not now, when I saw it on the phone). You’re on the road of getting it right. 😉 They would indeed. He doesn’t have any offspring (even though he is able), but who knows? He is a grand poseur and really patient with my stop-point-and-shooting. And yes, indeed, I did. 😀 He was doorgasming all days long (his word).

    1. Ahh, Charlotte, I’m glad you like the poem. I feel a bit— bipolar about the poems this month because I have to juggle several prompts or themes to make one post. Can feel a bit forced, but that’s what happens to all sometimes, I suppose. Still having fun and that’s what matters. Wrote a unfunny one right now for Day Nine though… :p Will post soon. Thank you so much!

Ahh yes the camera sure does love your happy little furbaby or maybe he has more modelling talent than I give him credit for.;Either way, he’s adorable and so much fun to be around.
Please give him a big hug from both of us 😀

    1. Thank you, Norm! 🙂 I will never forget how happy he was in the morning waiting for you two to come out of your room. 😀 Obviously you made a great impression. This means that he is in favour of your return. 🙂 And so are we.

I will not ask you questions at the end of posts to trick you into commenting. So when you do it on your own, it's that more appreciated. Thank you!
