Thursday Doors, 16/5/70: Ljubljana

Such a nice date that I’m a day late. Yesterday called for a bit of celebration, spurred on by the date in the title. Sorry, should have said 16/5/19. Force of habit.

Since I’m still here on a visit, and the sun is finally out making everything so pretty, here are some Ljubljana doors as spotted on the first day of my visit, and look, tomorrow will be the last.

This week flew by, even though I didn’t see the sky for three days. Today we had a lovely day in nature and I got to play with a pro camera NIKON D700 with a huge heavy objective for the very first time. Thanks, Siniša, sometimes it pays to forget your camera at home. 😀 And you fed us too!

Those photos will have to wait till next time since there were no doors to capture today. I’m quite happy with some of them and pretty angry at others. The fact is that I can’t manually focus without proper glasses since my eyesight is going. But I had a taste and it was good.

In other news, we got to try a couple of excellent Ljubljana restaurants (TaBar and Grad Kodeljevo Finisterra), yesterday sister took me to the beautiful Morcheeba concert for my birthday (below their entire show from years ago), and all in all we had a good time despite appalling weather. Tomorrow one more celebration of a friend’s 50 and then back home. (Oh, tomorrow is also the Eurovision Song Contest finals if anybody still cares.)

On Day One we strolled around the centre of Ljubljana after lunch with my poet friend. He is fifty but it was us who got a present: a lioness that his daughter made (the same who made bestia three years ago):

And finally, here is a mixed bag of Ljubljana doors.

For Norm Frampton’s Thursday Doors challenge.

    1. Thank you so much, Lisa! 🙂 It’s hard to say this with 100% accuracy, but I believe the present I loved the best is the Italian canzone that amore sang for us at a karaoke party. 😀 He’s a talent! ❤ And I'm glad you like my town of birth. I've seen that you've posted – in fact, I've had your post opened since – but haven't had time yet.

    1. Thank you, Amanda. 🙂 This is a pretty city, no doubt. Trams have not been running here for 60 years. This one used to be a coffee shop in this location, for quite a while. I didn’t even know they closed. Who knows what happens next.

  1. Great collection, as always. Love the green one for all it’s detailed decorative beauty and the sky blue building with the white arched door keeps calling to me, despite the air conditioner 😀
Belated but very warm and heartfelt wishes from both of us for your birthday! Celebrate all weekend okay? Hugs 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Norm. I celebrated all week! No matter how weather tried to put us down. The best part was amore crooning canzone for our karaoke party, no contest! I’m glad you like my doors. There were more but not as many as I’d hope for. There was food though. One can’t have everything. 😀
