This is the kind of challenge that I like the most: one that makes me attack my archives to find twenty more or less related images.
Patti suggests that we do exactly that or go out somewhere new with the purpose of finding new, old, borrowed and blue things, or better yet more than one in the same photo.
Since I busted my big toe nail yesterday so much so that it had to be removed by way of surgery (I say, this August is not going well!), archives it is.
The featured photo “Beauty and the Beast” from 2012, one of my favourites of all times, nicely embodies the new, the old and the blue, as for the borrowed some others fit better. All the rest were taken this year: first seven in Italy, the remaining thirteen in Slovenia. (Click on any for more detail.)
It goes without saying but I still wish to say it: Be well and take care.
Beauty and the Beast. Talamone. New blue princess. Orbetello carnival. Visiting man-in-black with borrowed robe and blue towel (mine). Terme di Saturnia. One more from there. Borrowed joy in blue trunks. Thank you. Blue (borrowed?) yacht and uncle in Priština beer shirt. Magari means something like “If only”. I find it hilarious. Old in new. Grosseto Cathedral. My new computer in the making. Can you read the inscription? In 2002 the oldest wooden wheel in the world was discovered in Slovenia. It is 5200 years old. Yes, it seems Slovenians discovered the wheel. Old in new again. Ljubljana post office reflected. On the left window: “Simple is always the best.” I might borrow this idea for my own 50th birthday party. (Next year!) Old Yugoslav documents of my friend. I have very similar ones. Mom in borrowed hat (dad’s). We narrowly missed The Week of Italian Cinema in Ljubljana’s Kinoteka. Old country, new country, borrowed films and blue square below. A new girl on an old mastodon (or is it mammoth?). Arboretum Volčji Potok. Not blue enough? Nikola Tesla praised, Einstein slammed. “Art and science are two eyes of the same face.” Metelkova City, Ljubljana. Ljubljana: old, new, borrowed styles and food from all the neighbours… …and blue. This old house, surrounded by new monsters, is standing its ground. An old block of flats near my parents’ home. Yugoslavia style. Borrowed colour-coordinated kids and their father – mom’s cousin’s son and her grandkids. Modern blue art in an old church. The Church of St. Helen in Pertoča, Prekmurje.
