Remote Friendly Friday

I’m still remote from my home and blogging but I wish to celebrate Friendly Friday with my blogging friends. In my life I have not travelled far and wide and tend to stick to peopled territory, so the mountains are the remotest thing I’ve found and one thing – beside the bathtub – that I miss the most in Tuscany.

“Howdy! Looks like you have used 2.9 GB of your 3.0 GB upload limit (96%).” This is how my blog greeted me today. I suppose Manja Mexi will be Moving again soon. But I’m not worried – I have seen my regular visitors move with me three times already.

On the subject of remote for Amanda, the host of this week’s Friendly Friday photo challenge, here is my city of birth, Ljubljana in Slovenia, taken from the castle. It has not many more than 300,000 inhabitants. It is located in the basin with mountains in the north. They are sometimes mere silhouettes.

Let’s look at the view from the first 43 years of my life from my parents’ house as captured this summer.

  • A July evening.
  • Another afternoon in July. Krvavec skiing grounds.
  • The street of my life before Tuscany.
  • My zoom capacity.

This is how it looks when you start approaching these mountains, called the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. All four photos are from the same day one month ago.

  • Northbound.
  • Near Mengeš.
  • Towards Volčji Potok Arboretum.
  • Three hours later.

And this is how it is when you are there, first from one side and then from the other. These photos are from three years ago. As remote as it gets in this tiny country the size of New Jersey.

  • This is the source of Kamniška Bistrica river near Kamnik on the side closer to Ljubljana.
  • Once I climbed over somewhere around here…
  • …with my father and sister when here ended our week-long trek from Maribor.
  • On the other side there is the lovely valley called Logarska dolina. It’s so lovely that you have to pay to enter it by car.
  • It doesn’t cost to hike. Yet.
  • Three years ago our hiking friend took amore and me to see the Rinka waterfall. How happy he is!
  • Yes, amore, that is snow.
  • We hiked for twenty minutes or so and reached the Eagle’s Nest bar.
  • It’s quite airy.
  • We were happy to be there and grateful to my friend for taking us.

  4. I loved your shots, as usual I would say! Just let us know where you will move and we will follow you! With regards to my visit to your wonderful country, no luck! I am stuck at work for operational reasons and the sales trips just like the holidays are delayed! 😔 But we will see in Italy for sure or somewhere else ☺️

    1. Thank you, Norm. 🙂 I’m glad you like the mountains too. I showed amore this post and he said: “Oh, yes, I remember. A long walk. It’s not a complaint, just a memory.” 😀 😀 And we walked for 20 minutes, no more!
