No, no, of course nobody is abandoning our beloved photo challenge. This week Amanda is merely asking what the word Abandoned means to us.

Even though I’m visiting Slovenia, my country of origin, I found some time to have a look through my photos from this year and find examples of abandonment. For the record, this year I have so far taken 5437 photos. Here are twenty.

When I saw my first “Please don’t abandon me” sticker in Italy, it painted a pretty clear picture of a country I had moved into. In Slovenia I have yet to see one of those anywhere. They are not needed. We take care of our own even if they are a pain in the ass.

Here are some examples of abandoned objects (I didn’t go into animals, it hurts my soul just to think about it) from Italy, ending with a couple from Slovenia.

This coming Friendly Friday we meet right here again since I cover for Snow Melts Somewhere and host this challenge for the last time (for now, I might do it again one day). It’s been fun.

  • Maybe not fully abandoned but disused. Carbonifera tower between Follonica and Piombino.
  • Weather-beaten on our beach.
  • These apricots have been abandoned by its tree. It’s private property so I take a photo instead of fruit.
  • I have posted this one yet but it’s one of my favourite finds. Probably lost, not abandoned.
  • An abandoned Monday market offer.
  • Unclear. Clearly sharp. I never touch my finds but later I saw that someone had picked it up and left it higher to prevent injury.
  • How to build a sofa.
  • Is this material to your liking?
  • Or do you prefer something softer? Bestia seems interested.
  • Abandoned even by the dog. (Before someone asks: This is MY dog. Far from abandoned. :D)

  • Life in the country. Tuscany.
  • Life in the city. Rome.
  • Another Rome find. I think it’s not abandoned but left to be used again when needed.
  • In the centre of Ljubljana. It used to be a bar.
  • In Slovenia signs are bigger but equally disregarded.
